ESSENTIAL ERGONOMICS COURSE OUTLINE - Module 1
About the course
The course provides definitions of ergonomics (E) and human factors (HF). It clarifies the difference between E and HF, and how these concepts are applicable to various tasks carried out in a work system. The course looks at the hazards and their respective risks encountered in the work system. The course provides sound and insightful knowledge on key approaches that can be applied to control the risks based on the ISO ( International Standards), ILO ( International Labour Organisation) guidelines and local legislation.
Method of delivery
This is an online course that can be done at your own pace. Learning materials and relevant resources are provided. You are given pop quizzes at the end of each section. Duration
The course requires a commitment of about 5 hours per week. One can complete the course within 12 weeks although a maximum of 52 weeks is allowed.
Certificate
After completing the learning sections, you are required to carry out TWO risk assessments (RA) of a workplace ( this can be your workplace). You must use the RA template which will be provided. You can seek guidance from the tutor on the suitability of the chosen workplace for the RA. The RA takes about 2 hours to complete followed by completion of the RA template. You then submit the RA for marking. Results of the RA will be available after 3-4 weeks. A pass mark of 50% is required to get a certificate. Another attempt to resubmit your RA is allowable but any further attempt will require payment of 50% of the course fee.
